[Center for Family and Community Medicine, CeFAM] Where patients are the center With 200 part- and full-time employees, the Center for Family and Community Medicine (CeFAM) is the largest research, education, and development center for primary care in Sweden and among the largest in Europe.
Dynamic, patient-centered focus Our real-world grounding is the most critical aspect of our organization. Almost all of us at CeFAM work part-time in primary health care–as physicians, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, or members of other paramedical professions. World-class databases We know what is needed in primary care in Stockholm County because we are part of primary care in Stockholm County. What’s more, our unique perspective and clinical contacts have been crucial to our ability to construct world-class databases and conduct internationally recognized research in cancer, reproductive, cardiovascular, psychiatric, and genetic epidemiology; physical activity; gastroenterology; nursing care; and the influence of neighborhoods on health. Education and continuing education CeFAM coordinates education for all medical interns and residents in Stockholm County and runs a “Doctor School” where we teach medical students how to encounter patients as people and how to engage in successful two-way communication with patients. Read more »
